Whilst TFL and Kent initially ran Lane Rental schemes, in 2019 any Local Authority with a well-managed permit scheme was able to initiate a Lane Rental Scheme.

These schemes mean that Utilities companies and Contractors have to ‘rent’ road space with charges ranging from £800 to £2500 a day.
